Clementine had the privilege of bringing one of her classroom fish home to be her very own pet. She named him Charlie.

She was very intent on watching him swim around his new home

Never having had a fish live with us before, we needed to find supplies for our new charge

Thankfully, we found a reputable purveyor of all things fishy close to home in the International District. Liem's fish store has been around a long time and was an adventure to find and an adventure to shop in.

She looks sweet, but she is standing in a very dubious ally leading to the fish store. This is not an alley I would have ventured down unless directed by my guardian, GoogleMaps.

This is not your mother's PetSmart

We couldn't pass up the opportunity to catch a quick bite at one of the bazillions of little eateries in the area.

Making a vase a home.

She went with a classic plastic grass/faux shell theme

Waiting for Charlie to eat his food.

This photo is out of sequence, but Andrew's face says it all. Charlie expired before we could get home from the store with our supplies. Clementine was stoic regarding the demise of her fish, but we did let her enjoy the thought of pet ownership for about 12 hours after this photo was taken. That was about how long it took for Charlie to start floating near the top of the water. No need to rush these things.
