Watching Him Watching Them

I have very little personal interest in concrete. It is not something that holds much mystery for me. I do, however, find my son very interesting. I love listening to his observations about life and usually learn something new, or at least a new way of looking at something old. Since I love my son, I have learned to love concrete. And re bar. And tool belts. And hard hats.

There happens to be a very large construction site located between home and school. Four days a week, our small parade stops and watches the progress until the army of workers break for lunch. My son and the foreman wave to each other now. We get the heads up when exciting stuff, like concrete trucks, are scheduled to arrive.

He finds what they do fascinating and I find that fascinating. It's a win/win.

  1. Loved this story. We have a construction site we pass to and from school, as well. Sophia's always very excited when big machinery is present. Yesterday there were 2 diggers!
