Attack of the Snow Day

We have just survived our first ever SNOW WEEK. Yes, an entire week of school canceled due to snow. I think it averaged one day per inch, but whose counting. Hills, which Seattle has much of, do not blend well with snow and therefore Seattleites become quite immobile with the least provocation. My brood had quite the time and we made the most of some extra time together. We had impromptu visits from equally stranded friends, enough snow to be turn our streets into sledding runs and nothing better to do but play. I got a tummy bug from my youngest, but it was barely long enough to bother me for 24 hours. And with all the adults in my life iced in, I was able to assemble an auxiliary team of bored grown-ups.

This shot is mid snowball fight. But because none of the kids have much experience with the powdered stuff, if was more like a "fist-full-of-snow-fling"

No glasses AND snow blowing in the face make for a Wild West Scowl

If she doesn't look happy, it's because she isn't. We promptly took the mouse home to thaw over a cup of hot cocoa.

  1. Sophia will be very envious. She's been hoping for snow all winter to make a "snow Christmas tree." We've had at least one decent snowfall every winter in Bromley until this year, which has been very mild (I'm not complaining!). I can count on one hand the number of times we've had frost so far...
