Log Cabin Museum

I took my shorty and her shorty friends to a great museum for pint sized people; The Log House Museum. This small neighborhood institution in located near Alki Beach in  West Seattle and celebrates the history of that area and the first settlers to the region. The log house is an actual, real log house that people used to live in and is worth seeing on it's own. The Executive Director of the museum was just unlocking the doors when we arrived and let the kids help put the signs out and unfurl the flag.

In 1952, the boy scouts of America donated a replica Statue of Liberty which was installed on the Alki Beach board walk and stood there until 2005, when vandalism got the best of her and she was removed. We got to see the original replica, which is in storage at the museum. A new statue has replaced it and we walked the several blocks to the water front to have lunch under the new statue (and it's judicially higher platform)

Remnants from Luna Park, a huge amusement park that was located on piers off Alki Beach at the turn of the last century.

Relaxing after getting our history on and expanding our minds. Being informed is hard work!
