There are many different ways to celebrate our country's birthday, and I particularly like the way my parent's do it. Grandma and Grandpa Wargo take over their street and invite the whole neighborhood to join them in what has become an annual block party. People who don't have much in common, join together over food and fireworks and commemorate our great nation. As is true with most things in my parents' lives, the emphasis is on relationship and togetherness (with a good dose of burning meat and explosions thrown in for good measure).
The ever kid, and daddy, friendly sparklers
The kids were regaled with hours of bottle rockets and other explosive treats, provided by our friendly neighborhood boy scout leader.
