Morning Again

Our lives revolve around tight, small circles of time; hours, meals, naps, days and, only recently, whole weeks. Referring to "next month" or "next year" just doesn't compute with preschoolers so we have learned to steer away from offering too much advance warning or speculation on future events. One of the most crucial time spans in our day is 6:30-7:25 ie. The Morning Marathon.
I LOVE my kids preschool.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that a bus comes every morning to pick them up.
My job is to get them on the bus, and if I can do it without anyone in tears, all the better. The big kids wake up to the sound of their "bird" alarm, put on the clothes that were set out the night before and then come downstairs for breakfast. Elijah usually has at least one item of clothing on backwards, and Ms.C will "modify" any outfit that doesn't have enough bling, but they do a great job most of the time. The standards of readiness are quite a bit more lax for Nina and I. Yes, If I had a robe that looked like a coat, I would totally wear it.
We join millions of other homes in this country who participate in the same morning ritual. I take comfort in knowing I am only one in a very large sorority of moms who accomplish the herding of sleepy youth every day.
