I subjected the kids to a historically themed road trip this week. You know the kind; Large obscure landmarks, stories that start with "In the olden days, when the Soviet Union....". I tried to paint a realistic but rosy picture of what adventures might lie in wait and they were intrigued when I mentioned "Guns" and "Caves"(both of which were completely true). What I did not tell them was that we were going to have to drive for a reasonable amount of time to get to the "Guns" and "Caves". I have learned that we all have differing opinions about what constitutes "Reasonable". My blessed little ones know nothing of the life of a commuter and a 10 minute trip to church constitutes the total length they spend in the car some weeks. I now know what it would be like to be locked in a padded room with two tiger cubs. Is it a victory when only one of us arrives with a bloody nose?! I say, yes.
Super cool and SUPER big guns at
Fort Casey

He is literally INSIDE the gun.
Inside.
I only had to swallow once before saying yes to his requests to do this.

I don't know what purpose these things served, but don't they look like they are the perfect thing to poke your eye out!? Come on people, I know I am not the only one thinking this!

yeah for sunshine and pretty picnics
