We started the day at a lake side park with the play moving progressively closer to the lake until we were having a spontaneous In-Your-Clothes swim. Fun Times.
Grandma and her mouse in their sun bonnets
My parent's host a annual block party at their house every fourth complete with grill, friendly neighbors and water guns. Seattle has been experiencing slightly higher than normal temperatures which made the water guns more enjoyable this year than most.
Watching the Fireworks
Sleeping mouse on the way home from the festivities. She had the place of honor, and the highest viewing point around, on top of her grandpa's shoulders.
We often let our Independence Day pass with thoughts ranging from Sun Screen to Hot Dogs and not much deeper than that. I, for one, don't often take the time to pause and reflect on the gift that is means to get to live in this country. Elijah and I watched Ken Burn's documentary The Statue of Liberty, which is streaming for free at PBS.org right now, and it was a great reminder of all that we have as citizens of The United States. Many, many people, including our family, endured much to come to American. And quite a few fought to protect the liberties we enjoy. A fitting watch for the holiday weekend.

It makes me very happy to see Clementine likes the headband I got her! Yea!
